About Us

DARS Morocco was founded by a mother-and-daughter team from Meknes, Morocco — Zineb and Assia — who moved to the United States in the early 2000s. Both lifelong animal lovers, they spent many years rescuing animals in the U.S.

But their hearts never left Morocco. They could not forget the countless homeless, injured, and disabled animals struggling on the streets of their home country. In 2019, using their own resources, Zineb and Assia began rescuing Moroccan animals they came across on social media. With the support of dedicated Moroccan volunteers and fosters, they have saved more than 300 animals since then.

Today, with nearly 300 animals in their care and an ever-growing need for rescue in an under-resourced country, Zineb and Assia are committed to expanding their mission. Through DARS Morocco, they aim to provide safety, medical care, and love to as many stray animals as possible — with a special focus on those living with disabilities and special needs.
